It all started with our crisp, buttery waffles, made fresh off a gas-fired cone cooker imported from Denmark in 1982
Our flagship store opened its doors in December 1983 on The Corso in Manly, serving up creamy, satisfying scoops to an eager crowd, and that is something we’re still proud to offer today.
The Regular

We started with one product – a giant, freshly baked waffle cone with two delicious scoops of Danish-style ice cream, all made fresh and in-house every day. It was called The Regular and it is still the most popular choice among our customers today.
We went from a humble ice cream shop to a burgeoning franchise quickly, with our second outlet opening in 1984 on Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise. Much like our very first store, it still provides locals and tourists with the flavours they crave in our signature waffle cone, after 40 years. Since then, we’ve grown with stores across Australia around similar hotspots, sharing our delicious ice cream and bringing that moment of joy to our customers.

Today, the waffle cone and our freshly made ice cream remains the focus of what we do, even as we continue to develop new products and flavours to satisfying your cravings. From junior cones to waffle baskets, shakes and take-home packs, there’s plenty more for you to discover and savour at Royal Copenhagen.
While we’re growing and expanding, we believe some good things should stay the same – like our free extras! This means you can customise your order – from a dollop of fresh cream to choc-dipped indulgence or anything you fancy from our Self-Serve Toppings Bar. It’s all yours to sprinkle, decorate and create at no extra cost.

Whether you’re after the classics or new, yummy flavours (think Toffee & Sesame, Pina Colada or Chilli Chocolate), there’s plenty to choose from in our stores. Our franchisees make their ice cream using our exclusive and ever-expanding list of recipes and add their own dose of inspiration to create new, unique flavours. If we all love them, they go on the menu – adding to our recipe list that’s now brimming with over 65 flavours!
